Steve Dobos was born on December 26, 1936, in Hungary. He passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Invermere, British Columbia, at the age of 89.
Steve was a true entrepreneur and businessman. Over the years, he owned many properties and establishments throughout the Columbia Valley, including the well-known Whitehouse Pub and Valley Alley Bowling and Gas. His work ethic, vision, and determination left a lasting mark on the communities he served.
In 2001, Steve and his wife, Rozalia (Rose), moved to the Creston/Canyon area to enjoy their retirement together. There, he embraced a quieter life surrounded by family, neighbours, and friends. He found great joy in gardening, caring for his property in Canyon, and visiting with those around him. Above all, Steve loved his family more than anything. He beamed with pride whenever he spoke of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Steve was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rozalia (Rose) nee Gorcs, and his only daughter, Suzanne Reid.
He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jordan Reid and his wife Courtney, and their son Dawson; Natalya Reid and her husband Keith McGuigan, and their children Emerson, Quinton, Easton, and Addyson; and Lorena Burvill and her husband Adam, along with their children Peyton, Melanie, Cassidy, and Sam.
His strength, dedication, and deep devotion to those he loved will always be remembered. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
